Empyre Comics has MOVED again! We are now at 318 Hospital Drive. Don't worry, same plaza! We're now right next door to the liquor store in an attempt to make your shopping that much easier!
Come check us out--there's a lot of new stuff and a new look! And we even will have some sweet Silver Age stuff! RUMORS AND STUFF
Hey, you know that Free Comic Book Day that you hear about on the internet? Nope, still not doing it this year either. If you're one of my subscribers who comes in every Wednesday you may find one in your box--I like to reward loyalty, not encourage people to come in to my shop once a year for freebies.
So you knew that with the success of Blackest Night that it would never end, right? Get ready for Brightest Day #0, which kicks off the reinvention of the D.C. Universe. Look for the return of Aquaman, and a couple of other missing heroes...
Geoff Johns is writing everything nowadays, right? The above Brightest Day, and now the new Flash series, featuring Barry Allen, the original Flash! Art by Francis Manapul.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer spoiler alert! Stop here if you don't want to know who Twilight is! Anyway, Brad Meltzer's run continues to heat up as Angel returns to the Buffy comic universe! And he's the Big Bad!
Birds of Prey returns with the team of writer Gail Simone and superstar artist Ed Benes, so it should sell pretty well.
Listen...I don't wanna say Grant Morrison's turning into a hack, but his new Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne sounds a whole lot like Captain America Reborn. It's billed as being a six-part series that chronicles the return of Batman. "Each issue spans a different era of time"...
Wow, I know two people who are going to be super happy that The Legion of Super-Heroes is getting a new series! The rest of you can resume your indifference.
Expectations are high for American Vampire, the new comic book co-written by horror master Stephen King . It's not an adaptation, so a lot of his fans are going to be looking for it.
From Image Comics, Velocity returns with a four-issue mini-series featuring art by the talented Kenneth Rocafort.
The surprise here is that Bendis isn't writing the new series Astonishing Spider-man/Wolverine. Instead it's Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert, at least for starters.
Know what I think we need more of? Deadpool. I mean, that guy just doesn't get enough exposure in comics nowadays. No, no point to this blurb. Move along. Nothing to see here but sarcasm.
Okay, this is a little confusing...Ultimate Avengers series 1 just ended, and then Ultimate Comics New Ultimates starts with a story by Jeph Loeb and art by Frank Cho. THEN Ultimate Comics Avengers will start its second series and will be running at the same time as New Ultimates.
Avengers restarts at #1 with Bendis teaming with John Romita Jr. as his artist. We all know they're only relaunching it to get big orders, but at least it's the same inflated price it always is($3.99) rather than a special inflated price(like $4.99).
Secret Avengers is a new series from Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato. No details have emerged other than that it's gonna be better than Mighty Avengers has ever been. Okay, I made that detail up, but I stand by it.
If their history is any indication, Millar and McNiven's Nemesis is gonna be a big hit. The writer/artist team from Old Man Logan? Fingers crossed that this is more bloody fun.
A little warning here: Dynamite Ent. is putting out Kevin Smith's Green Hornet comic. No problem. But then they're following it up with about 100 other Green Hornet series and even tagging one "Kevin Smith's Kato"--but KEVIN SMITH IS NOT WRITING IT, OR ANY OTHERS. If you add these to your subscription and then cancel them, you will still need to buy the next two issues. I can't cancel these mid-stream, and the discount from Dynamite blows, so I'm letting you know up front.
Heroclix launches a special Starter Set--D.C.'s Blackest Night! It's $27.99 and features 7 characters, their cards, a map, a rulebook, object tokens, dice, and more. Let me know if you're going to get one so I have an idea of how many to order.
See ya at the new location! We should be able to stock more trade paperbacks in the next couple of months! |
